Before their official meeting began in San Francisco, representatives from over 30 health systems from around the country took part in a tour of the new MyCultiver Richmond Food Production Center, which is scheduled to open early 2019, and a reception in Richmond with 100 community partners. The new center is expected to provide 200-250 high-paying jobs for community residents in Oakland and Richmond. It will process and distribute local, sustainably-sourced meals and food products for institutions throughout Northern California including Kaiser Permanente.

The tour participants are members of the Healthcare Anchor Network (HAN). Their national quarterly meeting was held in San Francisco May 22 to 24. Members worked to continue strategic planning and sharing best practices about health systems in their role as anchor institutions in their communities.

Some of the California HAN members include Dignity Health, Kaiser Permanente, Providence St. Joseph Health, UCSF and Adventist Health.
